Q: What is the difference
between Biltong and Beef Jerky?
A: Biltong is dry cured and not cooked and there
are no preservatives. Dry cure means that the
Biltong has a soft texture when you chew it.
Jerky is saturated with preservatives and then
cooked at 160F for 6 hours. You may as well eat a
piece of cardboard with some flavor in it. The
other big difference is our spices. Our authentic
South African spices have 22 components and this
gives our Biltong a unique and distinctive taste
to that of Beef Jerky.
Q: Will my order be safe during
the shipping process?
A: Definitely. We pack everything with all the
protection it needs. Your product will not suffer
any damage during this process. If there is ever a
time when your order has not been delivered to
your satisfaction, please contact us immediately,
and we will gladly meet your needs.
Q: Can an order be sent to another address?
A: Of course! Just let us know when you are
ordering. We can bill one party and have the
products shipped to a different one. The exception
is on promotions, we can only ship a promo to one
location.
Q: Do you fill large orders?
A: Yes. We receive requests quite often for large
orders. Our products are not produced for
individual resale, but large orders for parties
are very common. Ask about our catering for
weddings, bar / bat mitzvah's, baby
showers, graduation, engagements, other events etc.
Q: How should I store my biltong?
A: After receiving your Biltong, the best way to
store it is to keep it in the fridge once you've
opened the sealed package. You can store it in a
closet, providing the sealed package is unopened,
for up to 60 days. It takes about an hour to reach
room temperature and soften up. There are no
preservatives, so mold can occur.
Q: Why does my biltong have white
on it?
A: Occasionally, depending on the humidity in your
area, the dried Biltong may appear to have a touch
of white. This is salt trying to re-hydrate and is
safe. You can wipe it off with white vinegar.
Q: I like some fat on my biltong.
A: Our biltong is made from one of
best grades of beef. The meat is selected for its
low level of marbling. Our biltong is extra lean
intentionally.
Q: Why don't you have wine, beer,
cookies, sweets and candies?
A: As our name implies, we sell
biltong and boerewors only at this time. If we
carry other products, you will get an email from
us.
Q: Do you
have Kosher, spicy or other flavored biltong?
A: Not at
this time. You will be notified by e-mail as
these products become available.
Q: If I
don't like the flavors of your products, can I get
a refund or replacement?
A: No.
Not liking our flavors does not qualify you for a
refund or replacement.
Q: Can you
custom cut my biltong for me?
A: Yes,
specify how you want it cut in the comments box on
the order form. There is a $10 handling fee
for custom cutting.
Q: When
can I expect my Boerewors shipment?
A: We only
ship boerewors on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
We only ship boerewors frozen via over night in
insulated styrofoam containers with an ice pack
included. Boerewors must be shipped to an address
where someone can receive it during the hours of
8am - 5pm and then place it into a freezer
immediately upon receipt. Not inserting the
boerewors into the freezer immediately may cause
it to spoil and we can't be held responsible.
Q: Refunds and Returns how does it work?
A: If you find anything wrong with the product , we must be notified within 5 business days of receipt of product.
Failure to notify us within this time period will void our guarantee.
Q: Can I
pay over the phone with a credit card or ATM card.
A:
In most cases yes. Please call customer
service. There is a $10 handling fee, or you
can process your own payment online through Paypal
and save the handling fee. Please use
payment@800biltong.com as the email address
for payments.
Q: Can I
get a free sample?
A: No, but
we are offering our new first time customer a
special 4oz bag of thin slices, in the medium
dryness range, so that they can try the biltong in
an economic manner.
Q: Can I have you ship my order to me using my
own UPS, FEDEX or DHL account?
A: Not at this time. Our system is designed to
have pre calculated s&h built into the product
price. When the option of using your own shipper
account becomes available, we will let you know.
Q: Why
was my order delayed by the shipping dept?
A: We reserve the right to delay shipping any
order due to weather or holidays or for any
other reason if we believe the product will
not arrive in mint condition.
We will attempt to notify you by email.
